AVOID «BLIND ZONES»

«Blind» zones are the first reason of all road accidents! «Blind» zones correspond to the full right/left vehicle length. The driver is unable to see that someone rides a bike nearby. Tracks and buses also have significant «blind» zones where bikes can not be seen.

• Before starting to move make sure that bicycle is ready for a ride and is in good repair and safe to operate
• Be attentive to the people around you and to the road conditions
• At the monitored crossovers the bike-riders should follow the signals of general traffic lights and traffic-controllers
• At the zebra crosswalks bike-riders together with other vehicles should give a way to pedestrians
• Move along the right side of the road, in the absence of cycle track. Don’t ride a bike along the pedestrian ways and sidewalk
• Don’t overrun other vehicles if they turn right
• Don’t convey passengers and cargo as bicycles are intended only for 1 person
• Give special signals by hand to the other road users to let them know about intentions
• Keep a distance
• It is recommended to use a helmet while riding
• Don’t wear earphones, don’t speak on the mobile while riding
• Don’t ride the bicycle under alcohol intoxication or after the drugs affecting reaction and attention, being seek or tired, which creates a threat to the traffic safety
• Avoid stopping too close in font of tracks and buses
• Make sure you are always able to see the eyes of on-coming vehicles drivers. This will mean they see you too. Establish eye-to-eye contact with drivers
• Always use anti-theft lock while temporary stop-over. Not recommended to leave/lock your bike in a noisy and crowded place – it is the perfect place for a thief. Lock the bicycle using the chain or steel rope on the plain sight both through the frame and the rear wheel (ideally through the both wheel and a seat) to the immobile construction
• When bypassing the car make sure that driver or passengers are not opening the doors
